Vice president: Iran supports North Korea

First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said on Wednesday the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the peaceful and freedom-seeking stances of North Korea.

Jahangiri made the remarks in a meeting with visiting North Korean Labor Minister Jong Yong Su in Tehran, IRNA reported on October 9.

Pointing to pressures of global powers, US in particular, on North Korea, he expressed hope that the nation could overcome the difficulties in near future.

The VP stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to expansion of ties with North Korea, voicing Tehran's willingness to expand all-out ties with Pyongyang.

The North Korean minister, for his part, described his trip to Tehran as positive, adding his visit was aimed at fostering ties with the Islamic Iran.

Pyongyang has always supported Iran's right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy, he said, adding North Korea condemns the anti-Iran pressures and sanctions.
