Iran plans to open an exclusive trade exhibition in Afghanistan's Kandahar province.

The Iranian consulate in Afghanistan is currently negotiating with a high-ranking official of the Afghan province to pave the way for holding the exhibition, the Fars News Agency reported.

Iran has previously held many exclusive trade exhibitions in different cities across Afghanistan.

An exclusive exhibition of Iranian goods and food products was held in Mazar-i-Sharif, in September.

Food products, including canned food, dairies, tea, jam and edible oil, as well as detergents, construction materials, home appliance, clothing, computer software, cars and machinery were on display during the three-day event.

Kabul imported about $2.87 billion worth of goods from Iran in the previous calendar year which ended March 20.Iran has also exported $1.18 billion worth of goods to Afghanistan in the first five months of the current calendar year.

Afghanistan's Ambassador to Tehran said in July that "Iran and Afghanistan should boost their bilateral trade".

The Afghan Ambassador had previously said on June 13 that once the development plan of Iran's south-western port city of Chabahar is completed, the two countries bilateral trade would noticeably boost.
