Iran has expanded its transportation infrastructure at the border with Armenia in a bid to boost bilateral trade, ISNA quoted Iran's Aras Free Zone Organisation managing director Mohsen Arab-Baghi as saying on November 18.

During a visit to the Nourduz border between Iran and Armenia, he said that establishing indoor and outdoor warehouses will greatly help expand the two-way trade.

Nourduz border terminal situated in Iran's East Azerbaijan province, north-east of Iran is the common and authorised border between Iran and Armenia.

In July, Tehran and Yerevan signed a trade agreement. Chairman of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture Yahya Ale-Eshaq has said that Iran-Armenia trade turnover has amounted to nearly $320 million over the past two years, but we need to increase this figure taking into account the potential we possess.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, trade turnover between Armenia and Iran amounted to $317.7 million in 2012. Armenian exports accounted for $97.8 million of that amount.
