The Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs has left for Guinea to attend the 40th foreign ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), PressTV reported.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs has left for Guinea to attend the 40th foreign ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), PressTV reported.

In addition to delivering a speech at the meeting, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, will also hold meetings to discuss regional and international developments during his three-day stay in the African country.

The 40th OIC foreign ministerial meeting is scheduled from December 9 to 11 in the capital of Guinea, Conakry.

Apart from the foreign ministers of the OIC member states, representatives from the UN, the Arab League, the African Union and a number of international organizations will attend the meeting.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization consisting of 57 member states. It has a permanent delegation to the UN.

The OIC works to "safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony."
