While criticism should be fair, yet Iranian presidential administration should be given a chance, Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, the country's Mehr news agency reported on Feb. 8.

The administration has just recently came into office, and should tolerate fair criticism," Khamenei said.

Khamenei made the remarks during the meeting with commanders of the Iran Air Force on Feb. 8 morning in Tehran.

"The officials, the elite and ordinary people should be united, and should be aware of the rude statements of U.S. officials," Khamenei said.

The Supreme Leader of Iran went on to say that some people inside the country repeat the hegemonic powers' words, Iran's Fars news agency reported.

"Hegemonic powers want to make people believe that their independence contradicts with progress, and some people in countries including Iran repeat their words," Khamenei noted.

"Independence doesn't mean to be aggressive to the rest of the world," he said, adding that confronting the hegemonic powers is independence.

Khamenei mentioned that any compromises with arrogant powers will lead nowhere, and added that hegemonic powers are after putting their dictator puppets at the top of countries.

"The Islamic Republic's existence is based on reliance on certain principles and values," Khamenei said. "Our fundamentals remain strong."
