The Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Feb. 17 that he is not opposed to the nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1, Iran's Mehr news agency reported.
However, he expressed skepticism about the negotiations and said they will lead nowhere.
"Iran will never bow to the global hegemony's bullying tactics," Ayatollah Khamenei continued.
that Iran and the P5+1 reached a nuclear agreement on Nov. 24. Iran has agreed to curb some of its nuclear activities for six months in return for sanctions relief. Both Iran and the P5+1 group have agreed to implement the agreement starting from Jan. 20.
Under the agreement, six major powers agreed to give Iran access to $4.2 billion in revenues blocked overseas if it carries out the deal, which offers sanctions relief in exchange for steps to curb the Iranian nuclear program.
The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies. The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.
Iran's leader further ruled out attempts to portray the U.S. government as caring and humanitarian, saying any such efforts are futile.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the comments in a meeting with a group of people from the northwestern city ofTabriz, who are living in the capital, Tehran.
The gathering was set up to mark the anniversary of the 1978 uprising of the people of Tabriz against the Pahlavi dynasty's rule.
