Baku, Azerbaijan, March 11
By Umid Niayesh - Trend:
Some 80 members of parliament have signed a letter calling for the impeachment of Iranian education minister, Ali Asghar Fani, member of the Planning and Budget Commission of the parliament, Mohammad Hassan Dogani said, Iran's Fars news agency reported on March 11.
He went on to say that the impeachment letter will be presented to the parliament's board of directors this week.
The conservative members of parliament claim that the impeachment of Fani is based on his mismanagement in various fields of education. Dogani said that Fani has not fulfilled his commitments in terms of qualitative and quantitative improvement of the ministry.
It seems that the members of parliament are also against changing previous administration's directors in the ministry.
"Iranian MPs ask Fani that would the ministry be successful in its aims by current trend of changing directors," Dogani argued.
Rouhani appointed Fani as education minister after the parliament did not qualified reformist Ali Najafi for ministry.
The parliament approved Fani as ministers on October 27, 2013.
