By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran exports 80 percent of its technical and engineering services to Iraq.

Iranian ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danayeefar said that Iraqi market is capable enough to absorb $500 billion worth of investment in the technical and engineering sector, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on April 21.

Fortunately, the value of Iran's exports to Iraq has surged from $790 million in 2005 to $12 billion, he added.

Some one million Iraqis travel to Iran per year, of them 200,000 come to the country for medical treatment, he explained.

He voiced satisfaction in the growing trend of Iran's exports to Iraq, and called on Iranian traders, industrialists and investors to do their best to strengthen their partnership in Iraq's market, the Fars News Agency reported.

The year 2013 registered high levels of commercial exchange between Iraq and Iran, which reached - according to both Iraqi and Iranian officials - more than $12 billion.

Iran is currently exporting 24 billion cubic meters of gas to Iraq annually. Iraq also imports 400 megawatts of power from Iran through the Kermanshah-Diyala line, the Zihab-Khanaqin line and the Abadan-Basra line.

These provinces are provided with electricity through high-voltage power lines.
