Iranian President Hassan Rouhani believes that the West does not want the Muslim World to achieve modern technologies.

President Rouhani said that the western powers view monopolizing modern technologies as the key to maintaining their domination and success, Iran's ISNA News Agency reported on May 25.

"That is the very reason they always want to keep the Muslim World and the developing countries several years behind their so-called industrialized world," he explained.

Rouhani also said that the Islamic countries need to use modern technologies to keep up with the rest of the world.

"The West and the enemies of Islam want to portray a distorted image of Islam," Rouhani noted.

He further blasted extremist groups including Nigeria's Boko Haram Takfiri militants.

"The savage actions of the extremists groups have disturbed Muslims around the world," he said.

Iranian president made the remarks in an address to a conference on Islamic media in capital, Tehran.
