Iranian foreign minister advised world powers to refrain from violence in Syria.

Mohammad-Javad Zarif requested the world powers to look for a political solution to the Syrian conflict.

"Iran is ready to participate in any sincere effort to resolve the crisis," he said.

"Extremism, sectarian strife and the humanitarian catastrophe would result from irresponsible intervention in the war-torn country," Zarif explained.

"The capacity of solving the crisis is existed inside Syria," he said.

Zarif made the remarks at the second 'Friends of Syria' conference, which is being held in Iranian capital.

The event kicked off in Tehran on Sunday.

Heads of foreign policy commissions from 25 countries have attended the conference.
