By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Signals which are aired for jamming purposes prevented Iran Meteorology Organization from forecasting the recent dust storm inTehran in June.

Iran Meteorology Organization has sent a report to the parliament (Majlis), according to which it was unable to forecast the recent dust storm due to the effect of jamming signals, the ISNA news agency reported on July 22.

Iran Meteorology Organization official Ahad Vazifeh has said that related authorities had been warned of the effect of jamming signals on meteorology forecasts.

On June 2, at least five people were killed and 44 others injured during a dust storm that struck the Iranian capital,Tehran, according to Iran's State TV,citing the head of Tehran disaster Mitigation and Management Organization.

The winds, as high as 110-120 kilometers per hour leveled trees and swept other heavy material across streets and into the windshield of cars. The news of the sandstorm caused criticism of forecasters for failing to predict or warn citizens of the approaching storm.
