France worries about lack of government in Lebanon: FM

During his visit to Beirut on Friday French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner expressed anxiety of the French government that the government has not been formed in Lebanon up to now after five months after elections, AFP agency said.

Kouchner said that France is willing to see 'stabile Lebanon'. He called Lebanese politicians to agree upon disputable issues to establish the national government.

The President charged leader of Sunni coalition 'Al-Mustaqbal' Saad al-Hariri to form the Cabinet of Ministers after June elections in which pro-western bloc 'March 14' won. Al-Hariri is supported by Ar-Riyad.

Al-Hariri proposes to form the government upon a formula 15-10-5. But opposition bloc 'March 8' including Hizballa, parliamentary speaker's party 'Amal' and ex-president Michel Aun boycotted a staff of al-Hariri's Cabinet of Ministers.

Kouchner said that France is open for everybody. He does not object to meet with Hizballa and bloc of Michel Aun, Lebanese website Al Mustaqbal said.

Kouchner said that Lebanon needs the government to avoid new internal clashes in the country.

He said that there is favorable atmosphere to set up the government now given rapprochement of Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Kouchner said that the progress in relations between Syria and France launched in 2008 was possible after Syria promised not to interfere in Lebanese internal affairs.

Syrian relations with Saudi Arabia and France were deteriorated after Damascus was accused of connection with murder of Lebanese former Prime-Minister Rafiq al-Hariri in February 2005 and interference in internal affairs of this country. Syria supports Hizballah and Iran.

Relations between two countries have been rather improved after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's visit to Ar-Riayd in September and Saudi King Abdullah's visit to Damascus.

Kouchner said that rapprochement of Ar-Riyad and Damascus can be profitable for Lebanon to accelerate forming of the government.
