Lebanon confirms first A/H1N1 death case

Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed on Monday the country's first A/H1N1 death case, a pregnant woman who died when trying to deliver a baby Saturday, Xinhua reported.

The ministry said in a statement that the patient was a 30-year- old pregnant woman from northeastern Bekaa area, adding that she was clinically dead when she was rushed to a hospital in Beirut.  The ministry confirmed that the woman died as a result of A/H1N1.

On Aug. 1, a 20-year-old man who contracted A/H1N1 died in a hospital in Beirut, but Lebanese Health Ministry said A/H1N1 was only one of the many complications that the patient was affiliated with, as he was also suffering from an advanced stage of lymphatic cancer.

Meanwhile, Lebanon has kept track of all schools to ensure that all measures necessary are applied to prevent the spread of the virus to schoolchildren.

Lebanon found the first three A/H1N1 cases on May 30 and now there are more than 1,000 cases nationwide.
