54 rebels surrender to Yemeni authorities

Yemen said Saturday that 54 rebels surrendered themselves to authorities in the old city of Saada, northern Yemen, 26 September daily reported on its website, Xinhua reported.
   Local sources told the army-run online newspaper the 54 rebels handed themselves over within the past two days due to the stifling blockade imposed on the city, pointing out that security forces continue imposing tight measures to force the rest of insurgents to give up.
   Meanwhile, Yemeni army said it destroyed rebels' arms caches in Saada province and foiled attempts by Houthi rebels to infiltrate into areas under the control of the army in the northern province. Unidentified number of rebels were killed and wounded in one of the abortive attempts, according to the paper.
