Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad started his visit to Syria. During his two-day visit, he will discuss changes in the region, international issues and bilateral relations, the IRINN Web site reported.
"The Zionist regime in the region reached a deadlock and now they are offering a threat to nations near Palestine. Zionists intend to create a new confrontation in the region, and these issues will be discussed with Syrian officials during the visit," Ahmedinejad told journalists at the Tehran airport.
He added that Iran and Syria are holding long-term talks on the situation in the region.
Ahmadinejad will also meet with leaders of Palestinian resistance groups in addition to holding meetings with his Syrian counterpart and other officials.
A cooperation agreement will be signed between Syria and Iran during the visit.
