International envoy Kofi Annan will visit Syria "soon" for talks with the government and opposition, a UN spokesman said on Friday, declining to give an exact date, dpa reported.
"It is coming to a time when it's appropriated for the joint special envoy to engage directly and personally with Syrian authorities and the opposition," spokesman Martin Nesirky said when asked about the goal of the visit when the ceasefire is faltering.
Annan will also visit other countries in the region.
