At least 146 people were killed in the clashes between the Free Syrian Army and government forces in different cities of the country over the past day, Al Jazeera TV channel said today.
Victims were mainly among the inhabitants of Aleppo, Damascus and Idlib.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for over 17 months.
According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000. More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
