Egypt's Rafah crossing into the Gaza Strip will remain open on Friday for travelers in both directions, a Palestinian official said Maan reproted.
Crossings director Maher Abu Sabha told Ma'an the step comes as Egypt promises to provide more facilities to Gaza.
Abu Sabha said last week he expects the terminal to be open on Fridays, the weekend day it is usually shut, and its capacity to be expanded.
The crossing will be closed on Saturday due to Egypt's celebration of armed forces day.
The Gaza Strip is under an Israeli land and sea blockade, and Rafah, its sole border crossing not controlled by Israel, is the only one which opens regularly for passengers.
