A leading Palestinian figure on Tuesday denied media reports that the Syrian government sealed off the offices of the Hamas movement in the capital Damascus, reported Xinhua.
Khaled Abdul-Majid, secretary of the follow-up committee of the Damascus-based allied Palestinian factions, told Xinhua that the reports are baseless and the service offices are functioning normally.
He said Hamas' main offices "were closed when its leaders had left Syria," adding that the group's services offices at the Palestinian camps "are still working normally."
The Hamas leadership left Syria in February due to the escalating violence in the unrest-ravaged country and because Hamas has thrown its support behind the Syria opposition and abandoned its longtime patron -- the Syrian administration. Enditem
