One of 32 Algeria gunmen captured, interrogated

Algerian security forces have captured one of the gunmen behind the hostage-taking at In Amenas gas complex, El Watan newspaper reported, quoting security sources.

The man, whose nationality was not given, told interrogators that the attackers numbered 32 and confirmed they were part of a brigade affiliated to the al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb group led by one-eyed Algerian terrorist Mokhtar Belmokhtar, dpa reported.

The state APS news agency reported earlier that security forces had killed 18 of the hostage-takers.

A standoff between the military and remaining gunmen was continuing.
