Six civilians and two policemen were killed Saturday in clashes which erupted in the north-eastern city of Port Said, the Egyptian Health Ministry said, reported dpa.
The clashes broke out after death sentences were handed out to 21 defendants for their role in deadly riots at a football match last year and prompted army forces to be deployed to the city, to protect vital institutions and restore security.
