A fourth Norwegian national employed by the energy firm Statoil was confirmed dead Saturday, leaving one Norwegian unaccounted for following the hostage crisis at a desert gas complex in Algeria last week, the company said.
Statoil operated the plant along with BP and the Algerian state oil company.
A team from the Norwegian police has been dispatched to Algeria to assist local authorities in identifying bodies found at the complex, where 37 foreign hostages and one Algerian security guard were killed during the four-day crisis.
The group that claimed responsibility for the attack said it wanted to avenge French intervention in Mali, which began almost two weeks ago.
