US pledges 96 million dollars for African force in Mali

The United States has pledged 96 million dollars for an African-led intervention force in Mali, coming on top of millions of dollars promised Tuesday by other nations for direct support to the mission or for humanitarian aid, dpa reported.

Japan said it would give 120 million dollars for aid to refugees and others affected by the crisis, while Canada pledged 13 million dollars.

China said it would give 1 million dollars to the African Union.
