Syria rejected on Tuesday claims by US Secretary of State John Kerry that it has delayed visits to alleged chemical weapon attack sites by UN inspectors, dpa reported.

"Ms Kane (UN disarmament chief Angela Kane) arrived on Saturday and we agreed that on Monday they should go to Maadamiyet al-Sham," al-Moallem told a Damascus press conference.

"The British Foreign Secretary says Syrian forces have removed traces of chemical weapons. I say that the Syrian forces could not have removed them because those traces are in areas under the control of armed groups," al-Moallem adds.

"They delayed five months after armed groups used chemical weapons in Khan al-Assal," al-Moallem charges, referring to the initial alleged chemical attack last March which gave rise to the inspectors' mission.
