The United States insists that there must be consequences if Syria does not follow through on pledges of giving up its chemical weapons, US Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday in Geneva, dpa reported.
"This is not a game. It has to be real," Kerry said about his expectations for Syria, speaking to reporters after a first meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.
He also indicated that Syria's plan to declare its chemical weapons stocks one month after signature of the international Chemical Weapons Convention would have to be expedited.
