UN chemical weapons inspectors made "encouraging initial progress" on Thursday on the first day of work with Syrian authorities, dpa reported.
The joint team of inspectors from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the United Nations said in Damascus that documents provided by Syrian authorities "look promising."
"... But further analysis, particularly of technical diagrams, will be necessary and some more questions remain to be answered."
The team said it should be able to begin onsite inspections at three sites next week to verify information provided by Syria.
