The Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has reported 12 more cases of the Mers-Coronavirus infection, but the patients are in a stable condition, Gulf News reported.
The health authority said that the patients are expected to overcome the infection in 10-14 coming days without need for special treatment.
The infection in the 12 patients was confirmed through routine examinations conducted on those who have direct access to patients diagnosed with the virus.
The new cases are confined to hospitals and do not impose a danger to the public, HAAD said.
The Ministry of Health and HAAD reiterated that they are dealing with the current situation with the utmost level of transparency to increase the public's awareness about the situation.
HAAD also confirmed that it has taken all necessary precautionary measures in coordination with the Ministry of Health and health authorities in the country, in accordance with recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO). Health authorities are working around the clock to monitor and control the general health status, it added.
HAAD has reassured the public about advising all citizens and residents to comply with public health guidelines to reduce the spread of influenza and respiratory infections through washing hands with soap and water or other sanitisers especially after coughing, sneezing, using the toilet, and before and after cooking and preparing food.
The use of tissue paper is also advised in covering the nose and mouth while sneezing and coughing and to refrain from sneezing or coughing on hands.
Refrain from touching eyes, mouth, and nose as hands can carry the virus after touching contaminated surfaces.
The authority also advised everyone to go to a doctor when needed and to follow up all information regarding this virus which is released by the Ministry of Health and other health authorities.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health indicated that the WHO confirmed that the virus is not a concern for public health at the moment and it does not require any action to ban travel to any country in the world and does not require early tests in check points nor imposing any restrictions on trade.
