At least 25 people were killed and 60 wounded on Thursday in car bombings targeting mainly Shiite districts in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, said security officials, dpa reported.
There has been a sharp rise in sectarian violence in Iraq against the backdrop of protests by the Sunni minority against the Shiite-led government.

The United Nations said this month that 1,057 people were killed in July, the deadliest month in more than five years.
