A suicide bomber blew himself up at a funeral in northern Iraq on Saturday, killing at least nine people, media reports citing security officials said.
At least 39 people were injured in the blast in the city of Mosul, some 400 kilometres north of the capital Baghdad, independent broadcaster Alsumaria TV reported.
The attack came a day after a bomb attack on a Sunni mosque in the central city of Baquba left 30 people dead, dpa reported.
There has been a sharp rise in sectarian violence in Iraq in recent months. The United Nations said that 1,057 people were killed in July, the deadliest month in more than five years, while at least 916 civilians were killed in August.
