Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday condemned a bomb attack targeting Shiite pilgrims in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
"We condemn this heinous attack aimed at creating a turmoil and sectarian clash in Iraq prior to next month's election. We believe that Iraqi people will act with common sense," the ministry was quoted of saying in a statement, Xinhua reported.
It also offered Turkey's condolences to those who lost their beloved ones in the attack.
The attack in northeastern Baghdad killed at least 41 and wounded 106 others on Monday, Iraqi officials said.
