Hiddink to take over as Turkey boss

Guus Hiddink will take over as coach of the Turkish national team from August 1, the country's football federation TFF confirmed Wednesday in Istanbul, DPA reported.

The 63-year-old Dutchman has signed a deal until 2012 with an option of a further two years.

The contract means Hiddink will be in charge for Turkey's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign where they are up against Germany, Austria, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in Group A.

Last weekend, Hiddink, who has also enjoyed stints with South Korea and Australia, announced that he would be resigning his position as Russia coach in the summer.
