The first Turkish reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ANKA, which the country's army will receive in late June, is creating keen interest from neighbouring countries, the Sabah newspaper quotes the director general of the state-owned Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS), Muharrem Dertkasli as saying.
"Persian Gulf countries, Pakistan, other Asian one including the Turkic countries have expressed their desire to purchase ANKA drone," Dertkasli said.
He said Turkey is already at the stage of signing the relevant agreement with some countries.
Work on creating ANKA has been conducted since 2004. About 180 engineers have been involved in the project which refers to medium class vehicles with a long flight span and is the first independent type of development in Turkey in this field.
