Turkey and Niger signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement in Istanbul on Tuesday, Anadolu Agency reported.
Delivering a speech at the signing ceremony, Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Chaglayan said that Turkey's trade with Niger has been increasing day by day. "Our trade (with Niger) rose by 50 times between 2011 and 2012. Recently it increased by more than 60-62 times. Turkish businessmen should invest in Niger to bring balance to trade," he said.
Trade volume between Turkey and Niger reached almost 32 million USD since the beginning of 2012, he said.
"The figure was only 500,000 USD in 2000," Chaglayan said.
Niger's Minister of Planning, Territorial Planning, & Community Development Amadou Boubacar Cisse said that there were sound ties between the two countries.
