Germany charges Turkish man with PKK membership
German prosecutors have charged a 42-year-old Turkish man with membership in the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on allegations he was the group's regional leader in Germany Today`s Zaman reported.

Prosecutors said Thursday the man, identified only as Vezir T. in accordance with German privacy laws, was charged in Berlin court on Oct. 8 with membership in a foreign terrorist organization.

The PKK is considered a terrorist organization by the US and the EU. Tens of thousands of people have been killed since the PKK took up arms in 1984 in its is fight for autonomy for Kurds in southeast Turkey.
