Turkey's EU talks an open ended process - Angela Merkel

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday said that Turkey's EU talks were an open ended process, Anadolu reported.

Speaking at a joint press conference with the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Monday, Angela Merkel stressed that Turkey's EU negotiations were an open ended process.

"The end result of Turkey's EU talks are not certain. I have said many times that I have hesitations on (Turkish) full membership. However, I would like to see the process continue," Merkel underlined.

"We need progress in the implementation of the Ankara Protocol. Otherwise, the number of chapters to be opened to talks in Turkey's EU process would be very limited," Merkel stated.
"If we can open a new chapter, we would have taken a step further," Merkel noted.

Touching on terrorist organization PKK, Merkel said that they knew members of PKK worked under different organizations in order to support the PKK.

"We are very sensitive on the issue of PKK and closely watch the activities of suspicious people," Merkel also said.
