Turkey's parliament is set to discuss a motion to set up a parliamentary inquiry committee to investigate four former ministers accused of corruption on Monday, AA reported.

Former economy minister Zafer Caglayan, former interior minister Muammer Guler and former urbanization minister Erdogan Bayraktar resigned while former EU minister Egemen Bagis was discharged in a cabinet reshuffle after an anti-graft probe was launched on December 17 last year.

The former ministers submitted an application to the parliament speaker for the formation of a parliamentary committee in March and the main opposition Republican People's Party has made four separate applications to Turkey's parliament for an inquiry.

The ruling Justice and Development Party is planning to refuse the opposition party's motion which demands four separate investigations on four former ministers and to propose a single investigation.

The ruling party has expressed its commitment to forming a committee to look into the charges, and has the majority to have it passed in the parliament.

The December 17 probe saw the detention of the sons of the three former ministers -- Guler, Bayraktar, and Caglayan -- as well as high profile businessmen and the head of the state-owned lender Halkbank. Those detained were later released pending trial.
