A protest action was held in front of the Central Election Commission building in Armenia. Rally participants demanded the dismissal of those responsible for violations of the electoral law and falsification, Armenia Today said.
"There has to be no falsifiers in CEC. Those responsible for falsification should leave their offices once and for all," the protesters said.
They believe that CEC failed to create equal conditions for all candidates and the candidate of the government has far more opportunities, resulting in no competition in the elections.
The rally participants called on all citizens to take into account that the upcoming elections will be falsified and are designed to keep the current authorities. They believe the voters have to encourage their candidates not to participate in this farce and fight together.
The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held Feb. 18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.
Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Grant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andreas Ghukasyan, Vardan Setrakyan and the leader of the National Accord Party Aram Harutyunyan.
