As of 12:30 pm, pre-election staff of candidate Grant Bagratyan has received several indications from citizens stating that open voting in favour of the incumbent president and presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan took place at a number of polling stations in Yerevan, 1in.am reported.
In particular, instances of rigged voting were observed at polling stations 7/27 and 7/28 with the direct intervention of the former deputy chief of administration Armen Baghdasaryan and Karapet.
This was stated by public relations manager of the electoral staff of Grant Bagratyan, Karine Harutyunyan in an interview with 1in.am while talking about news received in connection with election violations.
She also said that at the polling station 03/03, located in the school N 84, the director of the school has a certificate of the local observer not representing any social organisations, which is against the law and he received the CIS observers 'for a cup of coffee'.
The sixth Armenian presidential election is being held today, Feb 18, from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.
Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Grant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andrias Ghukasyan and Vardan Setrakyan.
