The first batch of MasterCard payment cards of Azerbaijani postal operator Ltd Azerpoct will be available for use by the end of the January, the head of department of the Ministry of Postal Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the RCC Postal communication Novruz Mammadov told Trend on Saturday.
"It is planned to issue about five thousand cards initially, and their number will increase," Mamedov said.
Azerpoct is a principal member of MasterCard.
The total number of issued local cards (in order of to give salaries of postal service employees) by the postal operator is two thousand units. Azerpoct payment cards are operated by MilliKart processing center.
Issue of international payment cards will allow the operator to start paying pensions, as postal operator considers this category of users to be potential customers. For this purpose, Azerpoct is working to expand the network of ATMs. There are 7 ATMs for today.
