Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 8 / Trend H. Valiyev /

AzEduNet has launched the new "Safe online education" service, AzEduNet Director Renat Vitkalov told Trend today.

He said it is now available for students, teachers and everyone who works in the education sector. AzEduNet offers two types of connection to the educational network -- wireless WiMAX and a steady ADSL2 connection.

Using this service, users get direct access to the educational network, the services of the network and educational resources. The users are also provided filtered access to the Internet.

Vitkalov said the "blacklist" is constantly being replenished to ensure strict control over the rapidly growing number of malicious websites. The blacklist prevents access to
pornography, foul language, violence, extremism, gambling and adult chat rooms.

"Previously, the Education Ministry purchased 2,000 netbooks within the 'One Pupil, One Computer' project," he said. "Some have been distributed to pupils. The decision was made to equip every notebook with wireless Internet to develop the project. The Education Ministry
purchased 2,000 WiMAX USB-modems. These devices, as well as the netbooks within the project, will be given away free of charge."

All others wishing to use "safe online education" will need to purchase a modem at their own expense.

Unfortunately, "safe online education" is not available to citizens, having no relation to the education sector.
