In February the Azerbaijani government will consider projects of the South Caucasus national atlas and maps of 1903, chairman of the State Committee for Land and Cartography Garib Mammadov told media today.

"According to presidential orders, we have prepared and printed the South Caucasus map of 1903 and the original version of the National Atlas of the Republic of Azerbaijan," he said. "Next week, a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and specialists of the committee will be held. These projects will be considered then."

He added that preparing the South Caucasus map of 1903 aims to stop attempts of the Armenian falsifications.

"Armenians claim they have been living here for a long time and that the alleged land between the Black and Caspian seas is native Armenian land," he said. "A map of the Caucasus was prepared in Tsarist Russia in 1903. On this map we see no Armenian toponyms and hydronyms. Moreover, a feature of this map is that it was published by a third party, Russia. We all know Russia's attitude towards Armenia. This proves that this is ancient Azerbaijani territory and the Armenians did not live there."
