Azerbaijan introduces centralized system of water infrastructure control

OJSC Azersu (Azerbaijan's national water operator) has introduced AzersuCIS geographic information system for the assessment of the current state of sewer systems and the projecting water supply systems, a report of the American company Bentley said on Tuesday.

According to the report, the AzersuCIS project was implemented by Bentley, which has extensive experience in the design of geographic information systems.

The system allows to record and store data about the infrastructure, thus optimizing workflow and simplifying the maintenance of facilities.

The cost of the project amounted to $3 million.

AzersuCIS provides a convenient platform for collaborative work on projects, what is crucial in the industry, and also provides production automation and management of SCADA data and important IT-systems.

The MicroStation and MicroStation PowerDraft solutions allow more than 100 remote users to operate the AzersuCIS system using the Internet.

Using the technology of spatial databases, water operator of Azerbaijan has saved $800,000 over seven months, the report said.
