Azerbaijani postal operator to join Visa International

By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend: Azerbaijani postal operator Azerpoct is to become a member of the Visa International payment system in early 2014, the operator told Trend on Tuesday.

The agreement on joining Visa International will allow Azerpoct to move towards the issue of international payment cards using this system.

At present, Visa cardholders can cash funds and make payments for goods and services through Azerpoct's ATMs and POS- terminals thanks to the cooperation with DemirBank.

Azerpoct completed its emission certification and card acquisition in the MasterCard payment system in early 2012. The service has begun issuing MasterCard Maestro, MasterCard Standard, MasterCard Gold and MasterCard Platinum under the logo of MasterCard Int since February 2012.

Currently, the number of plastic cards issued by the postal operator exceeds 13,000. Azerpoct's payment cards are served by the MilliKart processing centre.

The postal operator plans to increase the number of ATMs in its network to 20 by late 2012. The number of POS- terminals is expected to double.

Currently, the number of ATMs in Azerpoct network is 15, while POS- terminals stands at over 50.
