The Electronic Security Centre of Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry has prepared proposals for the protection of children from the negative effects of the internet, head of the centre, Rashad Aliyev told Trend on Feb. 10.

He said the proposals which include mainly enlightenment activities among secondary school teachers and parents of pupils have been submitted to the ministry. The Electronic Security Centre also presented an initiative to create an organisation to be responsible for solving the existing problems at a higher level.

"An organisation may be established with the participation of the Interior Ministry and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs. Regarding this, it is envisaged to hold training on usage of 'Parental Control' solutions, Aliyev said.

The 'Parental Control' software solutions make it possible to block access to prohibited websites and programmes, generate reports and a schedule for using the personal computer.

The centre proposes the implementation of 'Parental Control' solutions at schools and places with public access to the Internet.

"We intend to work closely with companies developing these software solutions, conduct monitoring of websites and prevent the younger generation's access to them. Implementation of 'Parental Control' modules at internet clubs, aside from prevent children's access to inappropriate content, will also envisage the strengthening of the fight against cyber-attacks," the centre head said.

Often the attackers use internet clubs to carry out attacks and hacking of web resources.

The decree on supporting the activity of the Electronic Security Centre of Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry was signed by the Azerbaijani president on March 5, 2013.

The decree also approved the centre's regulations. The centre will coordinate the information on the infrastructure subjects' activities in cyber-security, provide information about the existing and possible electronic threats, conduct enlightenment of the population, private and other entities (users) in the cyber security field and provide guidance.
