South African TV channels broadcast through Azerbaijani satellite under test conditions

South Africa's TV channels are broadcast through the Azerbaijani telecommunications satellite Azerspace/Africasat-1a under test conditions, a source in the telecommunications market told Trend on March 4.

Currently, South Africa's TV channels Fox Entertainment and FX Africa are being test broadcasted using the Azerbaijani satellite.

About 80 TV and radio channels are broadcast via the Azerspace/Africasat-1a satellite. The satellite is located at the orbital position of 46 degrees east longitude.

It is necessary to set the satellite antennas to view television content as follows: Frequency - 11169 MHz, speed: 20400, polarisation - Horizontal and FEC - 5/6.

The Azerbaijani first telecommunication satellite Azerspace-1 was launched on February 8, 2013. The satellite is intended for rendering the services of digital TV, data transmission, creation of the multi-service VSAT networks and ensuring governmental communication. The zone of the Azerspace-1 coverage includes the countries of Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
