Azerbaijani mobile operator Azerfon (NarMobile trademark) upgraded its Core Network for the deployment of Long term Evolution network (LTE), the company told Trend on May 14.

Currently, the work is underway to connect the base stations. LTE network is expected to be launched within a few months.

Along with data, Azerfon's LTE network will also support voice services.

Azerfon has its own strategy for deploying the LTE network. As opposed to other players on the Azerbaijani mobile market, Azerfon's main goal is the simultaneous launch of the network throughout the country.

All base stations that support 3G network will also support LTE network, according to the company's plans.

Nokia Siemens Network supplies the LTE equipment for Azerfon.

The company has worked to upgrade its network for the past few years. The number of base stations was significantly increased, and huge investments were made in network development.
