Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan.25 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /
A member of the Georgian delegation to the PACE, one of the leaders of the Christian-Democratic Movement Magda Anikashvili at the PACE session urged the UNESCO experts to become interested in the issue of Georgian churches in Abkhazia.
Anikashvili informed PACE members and UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova, who attended the meeting in Strasbourg, about the sad state of the churches Ilori and Bedia.
"Part of European values is the right to take part in cultural life. A lot of people are deprived of this right because of conflicts and wars. Because of the Russian occupation, hundreds of thousands of people can not enjoy this right.
UNESCO experts should monitor the situation. The process of restoration of the St George's Church should be stopped," Anikashvili said in his speech.
