Georgia is ready to cooperate with Russia on a special operation in the Lopota gorge, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said at a press briefing on Monday. She said the Russian Federation has not formally appealed to the Georgian side, including through the Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi, which has an interests section of the Russian Federation.

Kalandadze expressed confidence that the special operation will not complicate Georgia's relations with North Caucasians.

"We continue an open door policy towards the peoples of the Northern Caucasus. Nothing indicates that this relationship in some way is threatened with complication. As for the citizens of Russia, the Russian Federation hasn't officially appealed to us, including through the Swiss Embassy. We are ready to cooperate," Kalandadze said.

During a special operation in the gorge, Georgian special forces killed 11 militants and detained one. From the Georgian side three special forces soldiers were killed three and five wounded. Elimination was a forced action after the militants refused to lay down arms and surrender.
