The candidate for Foreign Minister of Georgia Maya Panjikidze met with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule and EU Deputy Secretary General for the External Action Service Helga Schmid. Integration of Georgia to the European Union was discussed at the meeting.
According to Panjikidze, following the meeting the guests were introduced to the processes, implemented for integration of Georgia to the EU and measures taken by Foreign Ministry and Ministry for European Integration in this direction. In addition, the coalition confirmed the continuation of initiated processes.
"We agreed that our policies will be consistent and continuous. We focused on our goals, which remain unchanged: the integration to the EU and Euro-Atlantic structures," Panjikidze said.
According to the candidate for Foreign Minister, the meeting was not introductory, because she has previously met with Stefan Fule in Batumi.
"Today's meeting was a continuation of the dialogue initiated in Batumi," she noted.
Fule also held separate meetings with the candidate for the post of Defence Minister Irakliy Alasania and a candidate for the Minister of European and Euro-Atlantic integration Aleksey Petriashvili
Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 1. Around 14 parties and two political blocs participated in the elections.
According to full the preliminary data of the Georgian Central Election Commission, the Georgian Dream coalition will receive 85 seats in the parliament, and the United National Movement, 65.
The leader of the Georgian Dream coalition has introduced new candidates for ministerial posts in the new Georgian government.
Ivanishvili himself will take the post of prime minister.
