Georgia, Tbilisi, Oct. 25 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /
It is planned to take away some functions from the Georgian Interior Ministry to establish a State Security Service within the ministry's reformation.
While representing a government programme called 'For a strong, democratic, united Georgia', Bidzina Ivanishvili made this statement at the Georgian Parliament on Thursday.
There is a procedure on-going of presenting the government programme at the Georgian Parliament and approving its composition today.
"In particular, as a result of the reorganisation, the Interior Ministry will become a depoliticised Interior Ministry which will include two departments: the Police Department and its two substructures - patrol and criminal police and the border protection department," Ivanishvili said.
He stressed that security forces will be united under the "independent" organisation - the State Security Service. The candidacy of the head of the service will be approved by parliament upon the president's recommendation.
"The new service will obtain secret information and analyse it," Ivanishvili said." It will not deal with a criminal prosecution."
Earlier the leader of the Georgian Dream coalition which won the recent parliamentary elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili proposed a number of candidates for ministers in the new Georgian government.
